seriously, it was!
See what I mean? Normally when I make my customer thank you cards, I design one and make a pile. Well, I have a PILE of unmounted stamps - that I earned for free, (pretty cool, I know),,,I have a rule. Free or otherwise, they need to be mounted and inked before the catalog retires!.....so, I mounted a couple this weekend and used them, I was having so much fun, I got a little carried away designing cards too, which I think is kind of fun, because my customers are not going to know which one they are getting, until they open the envelope......anyway, I thought I would spend this week and share these cards with you,
Today's Share is the red bird card top right.
The stamp YOUNG VERMILLION is from Stampin Up's A la Carte department (One stamp only sets), and can be found on page 20 of the Big Idea Book and Catalog. I didn't know what a Vermillion's colors where, so I did a Google search to find the little guy - He's bright red and black...how fun....for some reason I was stuck on blue and brown! haha....
So, I used the Florish stamp from Elements of Style to create this card and I wanted to share with you a fast way to emboss it in Gold.
I cut my piece of watercolor paper the same size as the wood handle on the stamp, then I embossed the image with Black Embossing powder, placed a little Dotto on the back (repositionable tape), and stuck the little guy to my 5 inch square Cherry Cobbler card base.
I stamped the flourish with VersaMark Ink, covered it in Gold embossing powder, shook off the excess, and heat set it with my heat tool.
Then I took the bird off and mounted him on a layer of Cherry Cobbler 1/8 inch bigger, and Basic Black, 1/4 inch bigger than that, and then, reattached him to the card front, this time with Snail. I just love this card, I saved one and I'm going to put it in a frame......and isn't it cool how the flourish lines up!....LOVE IT!.
Hope you enjoyed my share today, I'm back to work!
